Delivering social change in 2024

We’re passionate about social change, and as such are delighted to introduce our 2024 social value report. It’s the first of its kind as we collectively continue to advance our social impact.

A key measure in the NRL Group’s strategy, and our NDT business operations, is how we deliver meaningful change as we continue to grow. Social value is central to how we do this, guiding how we do business and helping us identify how we can make a difference.

It’s this extensive work that has allowed us to create the NRL Group’s first social value report, which we’re pleased to publish.

From fundraising within our communities to extending our support financially, it’s important to us that we’re able to give back. It’s one of the founding principles on which our NDT business and the NRL Group has grown around – and we’re proud to see our colleagues share the same appetite for social change.

Each year we’re keen to make paid charity days available to colleagues and provide company match funding to boost their personal fundraising challenges.

Looking after our people is important to us, and as an employer we’re committed to making a difference wherever we can – from providing Mental Health First Aiders to signing up voluntarily to be a Living Wage Employer.

Ensuring everyone is given a level playing field to succeed is also crucial. Whether that’s recognising the transferable skills Armed Forces personnel hold when looking for a career after the military, or championing diversity – we want to help deliver social change as best we can.

We recognise the historic legacy nuclear power has provided the UK’s energy infrastructure, whilst welcoming advances in nuclear new build. It forms part of our energy transition strategy, that sees us support some of the largest net zero engineering projects across the UK and internationally.

It’s also crucial however that we’re making our own environmental improvements, which is why we maintain our Carbon Neutral International Standard and strive to further reduce our carbon footprint.

As a strategic engineering supply chain partner, we’ve seen a great deal of change in the industry sectors we support. From transitions in how countries sustainably produce energy, to the evolution of technology and the much-welcomed movement to entice more women into engineering.

Throughout that time the NRL Group has significantly, but one thing always remains the same – how we generate our revenue is of the utmost importance to us. That’s why we’re proud to spend time and resources championing social value causes, whilst working with our clients to engineer real change. It’s part of our doing the right thing ethos that’s been at the core of our organisation since we first started in 1983 and the moral compass that guides us.
